Dubarry of Ireland, legally known as Dubarry Shoes is a premium footwear and clothing company that manufactures and supplies waterproof leather boots for Sailing and Outdoor pursuits as well as shoes and clothing designed for day-to-day wear.
History
Dubarry was set up in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland in 1937. Initially setup as a joint venture between the local Chamber of Commerce and the Cullen family who brought experience in footwear production from Northampton in England.
To differentiate the brand from other Irish competitors the company was named after the French courtesan and mistress of Louis XV, Madame Du Barry as “Dubarry”.
Dubarry of Ireland was founded in Ballinasloe, Galway, in 1937, as a joint venture between a family from Northampton and the local Chamber of Commerce.
The new owners aimed to infuse a European flair to distinguish the brand from other Irish counterparts, leading to the company’s name inspired by the French courtesan Madame du Barry.
